Our story
From an LA food truck to two Atlanta kitchens.
Growing up, Neal & Samir Idnani knew one thing for sure: their mom's food was special. Not fancy, not complicated. Just fresh spices ground by hand, slow-simmered curries, fresh butter naan pulled straight from the oven. The kind of meal that makes you feel at home no matter where you are.
They always talked about sharing her recipes with the world. But talking is easy. So Neal did something about it. He turned down a six-figure offer from a trading firm to go work as a general manager at Jimmy John's. Not for the sandwiches. For the education. He wanted to learn fast-casual operations from the inside out, hands on, before building his own.
Meanwhile, Samir was in grad school in LA. Late-night phone calls turned into a real plan: a food truck. Indian food, mom's recipes, served fast & fresh. During Samir's graduation ceremony, they looked at each other & made the call. They were doing this.
"We didn't have a business plan. We had our mom's recipes & a food truck in Los Angeles."
The NaanStop food truck hit the streets of LA. Lines formed. People came back. Then life happened: AT&T relocated Samir to Atlanta. The truck lease expired. The apartment lease expired. Instead of seeing it as the end, they saw it as the next chapter.
They packed up & moved to Atlanta. In fall 2012, they opened the first NaanStop restaurant. The same recipes. The same care. Just a bigger kitchen.
Today, NaanStop has two kitchens in Atlanta, serves thousands of meals every week, & caters for over 400 companies across the city. The food is still made from scratch. The fresh butter naan is still baked to order. The curries still simmer low & slow. Some things don't change.
Our mission
Share the love of family, culture & food through mom's fresh, hand-made Indian recipes.
We believe Indian food should be for everyone. Not intimidating, not unfamiliar. Just delicious. We like to say the samosa is the new taco. We want to be your guide to Indian food, not a gatekeeper. Whether it's your first time trying tikka masala or you grew up eating it, you belong here.
What we believe
Food connects culture, family & community. Every meal we serve is a chance to bring people together, the way a family dinner does.
We love when someone tries something new. Exploring new flavors is how traditions get shared & how new favorites are born.
Fresh ingredients, hand-made recipes, authentic flavors. We don't take shortcuts because mom never did.
Every bowl is made the way mom taught us: with a generous hand & an open heart. You'll never leave hungry.
The food
We cater for groups of 10 to 750 across Atlanta. The same fresh Indian food we serve in our restaurants, delivered to your office, campus, or event.
